27 March 2025

Predictably, with Trump in charge, things in the USA are grim. It's not much better here with Labour making cuts to PIP which helps disabled people survive.

Went for a lovely and healing walk by the river with my friend
Mike. Great day out and a well deserved pint in Moulton.

Well, I'm supposed to be keeping this up to date, and I'm not doing a very good job so far. Today, Sunday, I went to visit my friend Peter who had a serious accident. He fell off a cliff. He was very lucky. No really serious injuries. Good to see him
recovering.

2 March 2025

A quiet Sunday today. I did a bit of shopping and spent some time thinking about the state of the world. Not a good idea? Probably not, so I buried myself in the excellent new book by one of my favourite authors, Jonathan Coe.

1 March 2025

In case anyone is wondering, I'm still alive, and planning to revive this blog. I'll start with a coupe of recent photos. Sadly, our lovely cat Rio died in September. We had, had him for 18 years 😢.

We adopted a rescue cat called Kiri, the first female cat we've ever had. She is a real menace.

Kiri cat.

Today, like many millions of others, I'm still thinking about the crazy events of yesterday in the White House where Trump and Vance bullied Zelenskyy. Of course, I've known that Trump was a dangerous criminal psycho for a long time, but that public display of bullying takes the diplomatic biscuit. Who knows what the consequences will be.

Today I went out for a wonderful walk by the River Weaver with my friend Nigel. It was a beautiful day and we had a great chat.

4 January 2024

After a few quiet days, went for a late afternoon walk along the river. Some great views with rising mist. It's still raining and storm Henk has caused flooding in much of the UK - #ClimateCrisis. No flooding locally, thankfully.

1 January 2024

So here we are in 2024. Endless devastating war in Ukraine and the massacre in Gaza continues. We had a quiet New Year by the telly, and today we visited our friends Anthea and Pete for a walk in Biddulph followed by an excellent tagine and wine. Sadly two of their llamas dies over Xmas 😪

30 December 2023

Met up with my friend Nigel on the local flashes. We had a great catch up and a crafty pint in the Salt Barge.

28 December 2023

It's been wild recently. Lots of rain and wind. The ground is saturated. We've had a few storms, including Storm Gerrit which trapped people on the A9 in a snowstorm, and a small tornado in Stalybridge which ripped the roofs off some houses. We were pretty lucky here. Susie and I went for a rain free walk.

27 December 2023

Quick trip to Knutsford. I wanted to go to Waterstones to buy some books.

25 December 2023

Xmas Day. We had a visit from the MIL and brother David. We had lamb rather than Turkey. A good nosh was had by all!

Where's my turkey!

Strange creature seen in the village.

21 December 2023

Today its Yule. A day I celebrate. It's the shortest day of the year, which means it will be getting lighter and brighter soon! Today we have Storm Pia. 80 mph gusts in some places, thankfully not here. Funny how this always seems to strike when you have to put the bins out!

19 December 2023

Quick trip to the PO to post some Xmas cards and a crafty pit in the Oddies on the way home.
