25 October 2020

Another big gap with no posts! We are getting close to the election date in the USA and most polls have Biden well ahead. There is obvious nervousness about the result and some think that Trump will do better than the polls suggest and that he may be reluctant to relinquish power. I have little time for Biden but we can only hope he wins, at least he's talking about renewables and creating green jobs now.

Today I took the van out for a spin and it's on charge.

21 October 2020

The row continues about local lockdowns - particularly Tier 3. The government has sowed confusion by changing the rules and local lockdowns aren't working. Much of the transmissions are coming through schools and universities. Cases are still rising and hospitals are filling. It's grim.

But Rio is enjoying his new basket.

20 October 2020

Struggling to get my book published. Bloody formatting and proofreading!

Went for a walk around the village. Enjoying the Autumn colours.

Today it's my son Aaron's birthday.

18 October 2020

Another walk with Peter, this time in Glossop. Great to stretch my legs and catch up. Managed to sneak in another crafty pint.

16 October 2020

At least the Orchids are blooming!

15 October 2020

I've grown Chillies for years very successfully. This year nothing! I bought half a dozen different packets of seeds and the first two lots I planted didn't even germinate. I got some going in June - large plants with lots of flowers but still no Chillies. I've posted about this before but now I have one Chilli!

14 October 2020

A mixed day, some showers but largely bright and sunny. Cool.

Another walk by the river......

11 October 2020

Another walk in Delamere with Peter and another crafty pint. A great day out!

10 October 2020

Went into town today to sort out some new bricks for the fire. Lots of people wearing masks but social distancing wasn't great.

9 October 2020

Rio the cat knows how to stay warm!

8 October 2020

Another walk by the river. Good for sanity in troubling times!

Wednesday 7 October 2020

7 October 2020

In the morning I went down to Greenbank Hub to meet Alison and Debbie to discuss the future of the garden there. It's not looking good but we are hoping to save it.

This afternoon I'll be attempting a few notes - but not necessarily in the right order!

6 October 2020

The roofers came round today and finished the job. The van is now insured. Progress!

After a dreary start, the sun is out and there is a meteor shower tonight! We might even get the washing dry....

5 October 2020

Another day that was mainly a washout. The roof still isn't finished! I nearly forgot to mention that Trump, after going into hospital late last week with Covid, and infecting half the White House, is now being discharged! That's a world record recovery as far as I can see. Of course, he did get the best treatment that he seeks to deny to others.

In other news, now we are really into Autumn -

4 October 2020

Sunday. Yesterday was a complete washout. Heavy rain all day. My mood wasn't lifted by the fact we had half a roof - it's having a major repair - but I could see any sign of water ingress.

Today was brighter and we managed a walk by the river and in the woods.

Friday 2 October 2020

2 October 2020

In today's news, Trump has coronavirus, its dry here but very dull, and we were woken early by banging and clanging as the roofers turned up to fix the roof.

The chilli saga continues. Very frustrating. I planted chilli seed ages ago, and now, in October they are only just beginning to flower. Will I ever get any chillies?

1 October 2020

No photos yesterday. It was miserable weather cool and drizzling all day until about 6pm. I wanted to go for a walk but abandoned the plan. Today, in the morning I had to go to the infirmary for a blood test. I parked up at Waitrose near the Infirmary and walked up. Tests are by appointment and there weren't many people there. Later I ventured into Waitrose.

In the afternoon I went on the walk I had planned in Delamere Forest up to Pale Heights from which there is a great view. So, an action packed day!

Waiting for a blood test

Ducks in the marina near Waitrose.

If you scan the horizon you can see the Anglican catherdal in Liverpool

Looking towards the Derbyshire hills.

29 September 2020

Tuesday. Today I went to Transition Grow Club at Rod's Secret Garden. I spent most of my time pacing up and down to measure the site for a plan I'm drawing up. I'm pleased to say we found a Newt on site. Cool but sunny.

28 September 2020

Fairly quiet day. It's gone a fair bit cooler but still OK if you are in the sun. Heating has been on and Rio is hassling me for food.
