31 August 2018

Las day of summer and very pleasant it was too. Took a photo of the Transition Cube. Getting ready for our trip to the New Forest tomorrow.

30 August 2018

Lovely sunny afternoon. Not as warm as it has been but very pleasant. Saw the Heron again.

Cows, Eaton Lane

Taken on my phone. Not a great zoom and hard to keep steady.

29 August 2018

The foodbank in the morning, CA in the afternoon and a trip to the dentists at 3pm. Met up with Transition colleagues at the foodbank to discuss using it as a hub.

Cabbage white?

28 August 2018

Today I met up with Adrian in Manchester for a tour of some of our favourite pubs. Here's a pic of Adrian and Tony.

27 August 2018

Collected up some potatoes from the garden.

26 August 2018

Off to Anthea and Pete's for a trip to the Congleton music festival. A good time was had by all!

25 August 2018

Today I started to do some Winter and Spring planting in the garden with Leeks, Potatoes and cabbage. It was fairly warm and sunny but still more like April than August. Spent about 3 hours in the garden and thoroughly enjoyed it!

24 August 2018

Quiet day. Heavy showers. Visited the library garden where we - Transition Northwich - have a project to spruce it up, and took a photo of the temporary help yourself bags.

23 August 2018

Travelled back home. Managed to find an unreserved seat in coach C - buffet car. One of the things that stood out about the journey was the luggage chaos. Everyone nowadays travels with at least one very large case and there isn't enough storage space! About half the four-hour journey seemed to consist of people juggling luggage in the racks and fighting to retrieve luggage before they could get off the train.

No, I didn't take a photo of the luggage but I took one of the damp garden. Potatoes are ready for digging.

22 August 2018

Today Janet and I took Paul's grandson Brodie down to Leith harbour and later we had an excellent curry in the Punjabi Junction followed by a trip into town to see a Gil Scott-Heron tribute band at the Jazz Bar. Really enjoyed the gig. We finished with some beers in the Brass Monkey.

21 August 2018

Today we went to Duddington Tower and had a look at the gardens. Then on to the Scottish Parliament where we saw an excellent if at times, harrowing photography exhibition. We also visited the chamber.

20 August 2018

The Weather has settled into a pattern. Showers and sunny spells. Its cooler and more like April than August. Good for the garden but I'm already missing the hot sun.

Today I travelled to Edinburgh to stay with Paul and Janet.

19 August 2018

Ok, ok, I know its a poor photo but this is Mark Radcliffe at my local pub where there were some bands playing in the beer garden. It was tricky because there a lot of people milling around. I should have just asked him for a pic. Like his show on Radio 6 music.

Instead of watching the bands I opted to watch my team Man Utd in the pub playing Brighton - the worst performance I've ever seen. We lost 3-2 but the result flattered us 😒

18 August 2018

Much cooler evening last night. Not cold or chilly but the coolest we've had since May. Went for a walk down Eaton Lane. Also took a pic of the garden to show the sky. This is what its been like for the past couple of weeks. Heavy grey cloud interspersed with bright spells.
This is Eaton Lane, blue sky, warm and sunny

Found a tractor on a neighbours lawn. Where we live is home to tractor buffs. I've seen half a dozen which are kept in the vicinity of our house. I think the farmer down the lane is a buff and stores them on his farm.

Sky later in the afternoon. Heavy grey clouds but still warm

17 August 2018

Tickets have arrived!

Thursday 16 August 2018

16 August 2018

Only two weeks of summer left 😧.
Heavy rain last night but I'm not sure how long it lasted.
Today is Madonna's 60th birthday and Aretha Franklin, the great soul singer, died today.
I went for a walk by the Weaver.
It's still warm with cloudy/sunny spells.

Bogland by the Weaver. This has recently been opened up by the Canal Trust.

Wonderful sky!

15 August 2018

Foodbank in the morning. We had a big order to put away but apart from that, it was pretty quiet. Had a useful and productive afternoon at Citizens Advice and was able to collect my new glasses! Now I can see!

When I got home it was time to check out the greenhouse. Chillies and tomatoes looking good!

14 August 2018

Warm and cloudier but still not much rain. Sunflowers have perked up in the past couple of days!

13 August 2018

Monday. The weather has become mixed. Its cooler but not that cool. T-shirt and shorts still fine. It's cloudier and it looks like rain but apart from the odd shower, there hasn't been much.

Figs are doing well

Rio - on the look out as usual

12 August 2018

Weather still mixed. Bits of gardening and shopping. Quiet day.

Sunflowers are a bit disappointing so far!

Apples are ready for eating!

11 August 2018

Today we celebrated Susie and Davids 50th Birthday at the Grey Lady.

Sunday 12 August 2018

10 August 2018

Heavy rain! Lasted about an hour or two. This is the first puddle I've seen in our garden for quite a while!

9 August 2018

Bit of a lazy day with some shopping. Cool breeze in late afternoon meant I had to retreat indoors at about 5pm!

Down by the marina

8 August 2018

Lovely day. Warm but cooler than recently. A couple of showers. At foodbank in the morning. In the afternoon went for a walk by the Weaver with Peter.

First Heron I've seen for a while

The road goes ever on and on

Tuesday 7 August 2018

7 August 2108

Cloudy in the morning but brightened up around lunchtime. A bit cooler but still warm. Clouded over in the afternoon. Enjoyable longish walk by the river. Saw a Buzzard being mobbed by Seagulls.

6 August 2018

Trip into town to do a bit of shopping and I met this unusual creature.
