We went into Penrith for some supplies and on the way back stopped for a look at Dalmain Hall which is only about one and a half miles from our site.  Then a walk up to the village of Dacre. The only drawback is the lack of footpaths though the roads are pretty quiet. The village has a great pub, the Horse and Farrier, a church and a castle - which is privately rented. Recommend the pub. Good food and beer with friendly staff.
