Good morning at the foodbank - though it wasn't very busy. Spent most of a grey and chilly afternoon getting my diabetic eye test done. You can't drive because the drops they put in your eyes make your vision blurry, so off to the bus stop to find that the bus was 10 minutes late. The whole test took about an hour. Then another late bus coming back.

Managed to take a blurry photo, with blurry vision, of The Democracy Project by David Graeber which I started re-reading on an impulse. This is a superb book that ought to be compulsory reading because most people don't understand what democracy is - and how it's been subverted and undermined for most of human history.

The excerpt is a quote by one of the founding fathers John Adams which illustrates the propertied classes fear of democracy - which is why it wasn't mentioned in the American Constitution. It illustrates why we are where we are.
